I almost threw up on the way to work this morning.
No, really.
Unbelievable-- but Philadelphia came up with a new smell to turn my stomach. I had to hold my shirt to my nose the whole 4-block walk just so I wouldn't have to stop and puke.
Must have looked rather childish to the common observer-- a half-asleep young woman with her shirt sleeve covering half of her face and quite a grimmace on the rest of her face... but wait, I forgot-- people in Philly are unobservant. At least I have nothing to worry about there.
You know, come to think of it, I saw other people outside, and they didn't seem to even notice the smell. They probably didn't. They're used to it. It's normal-- even accepted.
Yeesh!
And this was worse than the typical sewage/trash smell. It smelled like something decomposing. Maybe it's Bill Clinton (he was in town this past week).
It's way past time for me to be here. But, I'm afraid to go outside! Afraid I won't make it home because I'll keel over dead in the middle of the street, from inhaling toxic fumes.
Ick.
Well, hopefully I'll see you tomorrow.
